You're entitled to know where we receive our support. Last year,
- 96% came from contributions from individuals.
- 0.6% came from corporations
- 3% came from foundations
- 0% came from unions
- 0.4% came from sales, such as speaking fees, fees for articles, and publication sales.
- Our single largest contribution from an individual -- $2000 -- came from a resident of Toronto.
- Our single largest corporate contribution -- $500 -- came from a small company (a video store) in Toronto.
- Our single largest contribution from a foundation -- $2,000 -- came from the Margaret Laurence Fund for Peace and the Environment.
In calculating the support that our foundation receives, we include the value of contributed services. Over the years, these have included pro bono work by lawyers and other professionals, in-kind contributions (for example, 100 sampling kits from Philip Services), and other material contributions that have helped us carry on our work.
Our privacy policy: To protect the privacy of our individual donors, we do not identify them by name. We also do not identify small businesses, whose donations are often tantamount to coming from an individual. We identify all contributions greater than $1,000 from large corporations.
